The Mirage M1 was a more streamlined development of the Mk1 GT40 that John Wyer entered into the 1967 sports car season. It was the first time we saw the now iconic light blue and orange Gulf livery, with car number 14 driven by Piper and Thompson. This is a limited-edition resin slot car features a new style ABS chassis and is an important piece of Le Mans history.

The first Mirage appeared at Le Mans during the April 1967 tests. It was the first prototype created by John Wyer Automotive Engineering which, instead of making a new model, Wyer preferred to improve the GT 40, which had proof in endurance racing before Ford withdrew from the World Championship for makes. The #14 Mirage M1 retires after 59 laps. The #15 Mirage M1 is the eighth car to retire after 29 laps of the race.
The 1/32nd miniature offered here is exceptionally a static model equipped with a resin “showcase” chassis and without motor. It was already manufactured at LE MANS miniatures equipped more than 10 years ago with the Slot.it chassis, wheels and engine. Due to the high cost of these pieces and the supply problems we are encountering, we have chosen this solution which will allow our most recent customers to complete their collection.
